The fate of the presidential candidates and the outcome of 470 congressional elections will soon be known. As will the results of 11 gubernatorial contests and many other state and local elections. Will Barack Obama become the country's first African-American president, or will John McCain become the oldest elected U.S. president? Will Massachusetts voters pass a measure to ban commercial dog racing in the state? Or Californians vote to ban same sex marriage? Stay tuned!
The Democratic and Republican Parties may be fighting the election, but in London on Tuesday night one party definitely rules -- the U.S. Embassy's famous Election Night Party!!
Tuesday night, 4 November 2008, and the place to be is the United States Embassy in Grosvenor Square, London. Approximately 1500 guests are celebrating this quadrennial affirmation of American democracy in an intense, lively and fun atmosphere. Democrats and Republicans living and working in the U.K. are sharing their passion and excitement with British invitees from the worlds of entertainment, the media, business and, of course, politics. While enjoying all the fun of a great American event guests will be able to celebrate (or commiserate!) with like-minded partygoers and exchange views and opinions with those of a different political hue. Soak up the party atmosphere by following the Embassy's Twitter. Short, bite size nuggets will keep you up-to-date without having to leave home. Sign up at: http://twitter.com/usembassylondon
For some more in-depth coverage of the party check the Embassy's blog. Interns Cassie and Catie will be two of our bloggers. Cassie and Catie will be sharing impressions of their first Embassy Election Night Party at http://www.usembassy.org.uk/politics/
